Kerry John Katsorhis

Kerry John Katsorhis is the principal of the Katsorhis Law Firm, P.C., formerly, Ginsberg & Katsorhis, P.C. Kerry handles a wide range of both civil and criminal matters including personal injury, medical malpractice, motor vehicle accidents, real estate law, government contracts, probate and estate administration and workers’ compensation law; and for criminal matters, Mr. Katsorhis represents clients in all types of general criminal law cases as well as in DUI/DWI matters and white-collar crimes.
 

Prior to founding the Katsorhis Law Firm, Mr. Katsorhis held a number of positions in both civil service and private practice. Kerry began his career as a New York State Patrolman from 1967-1969, and after graduating from New York Law School in 1970, he became an Assistant District Attorney for the County of Queens from 1971 to 1977. During his time at the Queen’s D.A.’s office, Mr. Katsorhis held multiple positions including Chief of the Supreme Court Bureau (Jamaica Courthouse), Chief of the Major Offenses Bureau and Chief of the Criminal Courts Bureau. After leaving the District Attorney’s office in 1977, Mr. Katsorhis began his career in private practice at Sakona, Ginsberg & Katsorhis in Jamaica, New York. In 1994, Kerry was appointed Sheriff of the City of New York where he was afforded the opportunity to pursue his passion for civil service until he returned to private practice again in 1995.
 

Mr. Katsorhis is admitted to practice in the states of New York (1970) and Florida (1975); the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (1971), the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (1971), the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit (1971) and the United States Supreme Court (1976). In addition, Mr. Katsorhis is a member of the New York Bar Association, the Queens County Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Association for Criminal Defense Attorneys, the Florida Bar Association, the Eastern Orthodox Lawyers Association and the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Queens County.
 

In addition to his legal work, Mr. Katsorhis is very active in the community. He has served in a volunteer capacity as a small claims arbitrator for the City of New York since 1980. Kerry is a member of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church of Jamaica, where he has served as a Parish Council Member since 1998. Mr. Katsorhis has been a politically active member of the local community, running for local, state and federal office to advocate for change.
